If you own a grill – even if you just bought it this year – chances are good that by this time of year, you’ve become an expert at using it! That’s awesome. There’s nothing like fresh food straight off of the grill, especially in summer. However, you may find it insightful to consider a few tips about how your use of the grill could affect your home.
Since your grill is an appliance that radiates heat, it’s important to consider your surroundings. When the grill is being used, is it positioned very close to your home? A very hot grill and the smoke that comes from it can easily melt siding that’s close by or damage stairways or decking that’s above it. And if you put your grill in an enclosed space when it’s not in use, it’s important to give it time to cool down before storing it away.
