As a parent, you are probably very concerned with the safety of your children. Your home should be a safe place for them, but unfortunately this is not always the case. It is important for you to take a good look around your home to figure out what might pose a risk for a curious child.
Much of the work you do to protect them centers around limiting access to anything dangerous. If you have cleaning chemicals, they should be kept either in a locked cabinet or stored outside the living area. The same goes for any sharp tools or knives. Many times, a simple latch can be used for this, but be careful since many of these wear down over time, especially if they are made from plastic.
If there are stairs in your home, you should prevent access by installing gates at the top and bottom.
If you have a pool, make sure that a child can’t make it into it without supervision. Lock doors and gates leading to the pool, and be mindful of not leaving it unlocked.
